To become a member, the practitioner must be 18 years of age or older.
He must have acquired at least 1000 hours of recognized training in the field of accompaniment and therapeutic relationship. (Please note that this is not a cumulative but a diploma of 1000 hours or more)
Several university or college courses could be recognized in part or in whole.
RITMA will analyze the applicant's training hours, certificates and diplomas, according to RITMA criteria.
The applicant must be familiar with Bill 21, the law governing psychotherapy, and comply with its rules and regulations.
Applicants who are already members of a professional order will have to be particularly vigilant and refrain from doing activities reserved for that order when in private practice. Similarly, applicants who are currently governed by a professional order should check with their order to see if they can be a member of an association not affiliated with the order.
Note: Personal growth workshop are not recognized.

HYPNOSIS AND THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIPS - Important Notes
Hypnosis will be recognized with a minimum of 150 hours of training AND must be supported by a basic training of 1000 hours or more in therapeutic relationship/coaching.
Therapeutic relationship is recognized in courses strictly focused on helping/accompanying/coaching of 1000 hours or more. Techniques may be acquired from private schools specializing in this field or from college or university courses.
Techniques such as anatomy, herbs, aromatherapy cannot be counted in these two components.

Coaching/ Accompanying professions fall under the naturopathy umbrella for reimbursement.

Continuing Education
RITMA encourages continuing education, wanting its members to stay on the cutting edge when improving or discovering new techniques in their field.
All members are required to take at least 15 hours of continuing education per year. Or 45 hours/3 years. For example, more than 45 hours of training could cover 3 years.
*Personal growth workshops or readings do not count as basic or continuing education hours.
RITMA has very rigorous eligibility criteria, and advocates for supervised practices and high training standards.
RITMA conducts methodical audits and reserves the right to verify at its discretion and at any time the methods, facilities and instruments used by its members in order to assure the public that the care offered meets all its quality standards. With respect to receipts issued, the Association prevents abuse by assigning individually numbered receipts to each member, making multiple use impossible. It also assigns staff to regularly audit its members' advertisements and websites. This prevents non-therapeutic and non-orifessional services from being offered.
The Association advocates that all members carry Errors and Omissions insurance.
